The Music Grid Forum Rules

TheMusicGrid.com is a community for music fans to share rankings, lists, opinions, discoveries, and discussions. Whether you're debating the greatest album of all time, sharing your latest Top 100 list, or discussing current events, we ask all members to follow these rules.

1. Be Respectful

Treat all members with courtesy and respect.
Disagree with opinions, not people.
Personal attacks, insults, harassment, bullying, or intimidation will not be tolerated.
Remember that musical taste is subjective.

Example: "I don't agree that album belongs in the Top 10" is fine. "You're a **** for ranking it there" is not.

2. Music Opinions Are Not Facts

Healthy debate is encouraged.
Avoid gatekeeping or telling others they are not "real music fans."

The purpose of the forum is to celebrate different perspectives.

3. Keep Discussions Civil

Heated debates are expected, especially in rankings and politics sections.
Remain constructive and respectful.
Do not deliberately provoke arguments or start fights.


4. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Content attacking or discriminating against people based on race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or gender is prohibited.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or banning.

5. Politics & Current Affairs Section

Political discussion is allowed in designated areas only.
When discussing politics:

Debate ideas, policies, and issues respectfully.
Do not attack, insult, or harass other members.
Avoid repetitive political campaigning.
Keep political discussions out of non-political music threads.

Moderators may lock threads that become excessively hostile.

6. Stay On Topic

Post in the appropriate forum section.
Keep threads relevant to their original topic.
Occasional side discussions are fine, but persistent derailment is not.

7. No Spam or Self-Promotion

No spam, scams, or excessive advertising.
Self-promotion is allowed only where approved by forum staff. A section of the forum is dedicated to this.

8. Ranking Lists & Polls

Our forum is built around rankings and lists.
Please;
Present your rankings in a readable format.
Respect other members' rankings.
Avoid creating duplicate threads when an active discussion already exists.
Accept that ranking outcomes will vary widely.

9. No Trolling

Do not post solely to annoy, mislead, or provoke reactions.
Deliberately inflammatory posts may be removed.
Persistent trolling may result in a ban.

10. No Illegal Content

Do not post or request;
Pirated music
Copyright-infringing downloads
Cracked software
18+ Content
Illegal streaming links

Support artists and legitimate music services.

11. Respect Privacy

Do not share private information about others.
No doxxing or revealing personal details without consent.
Private messages should remain private unless all parties agree otherwise.


12. No Multiple Accounts to Manipulate Discussions

Do not create additional accounts to evade bans.
Do not use multiple accounts to influence polls, rankings, or discussions.


13. Appropriate Content Only

Keep content suitable for a general audience.
Excessively graphic, shocking, or offensive material may be removed.
Use common sense when posting images or external links.

14. Moderator Decisions

Respect the decisions of moderators and administrators.
If you disagree with a moderation action, contact the moderation team privately.
Public arguments about moderation may be removed.
For genuine concerns regarding a moderator's decision or behaviour, please contact an administrator and put forward your case

15. Report Problems, Don't Escalate Them

If another member breaks the rules;
Use the report function.
Contact a moderator.
Do not start arguments or retaliate.

16. Have Fun and Discover Music

Moderators & Administrators may issue;
Friendly reminders
Official warnings
Thread bans
Temporary suspensions
Permanent bans

Serious violations may result in immediate suspension or banning without warning.
